We are here for you!

The Kaiserhof is a family-run 4-star superior city hotel in Münster with plenty of charm and history. The hotel has been an integral part of Münster’s cityscape since 1895. We would like to introduce you to the two families who, along with all the staff at the Kaiserhof, look after your well-being.

The Anne and Peter Cremer Family, Owners

In 1930, Peter Cremer’s great-grandfather, Privy Councilor Josef Cremer, bought the Hotel Kaiserhof, built in 1895. Anne and Peter Cremer were the first members of the family to personally take over management on January 1, 1999. With a great deal of passion, clear vision, strength, and financial resources, the Kaiserhof has returned to what it was in the beginning: one of the best hotels in the entire city.

All rooms have been renovated, conference rooms have been redesigned, technology has been brought up to date, a wellness area has been created, and special attention has been paid to the selection of qualified staff. The neighboring building was acquired in 2008. Technological advances, changing travel habits, and new customer needs were integrated and implemented into the ongoing modernization process. From 2009 to 2018, the Kaiserhof offered two outstanding dining options in Münster, with two restaurants in addition to the hotel and the “Kaiserhof Beauty & Spa” wellness oasis. “Gourmet 1895” – awarded a Michelin star in 2012 and thus the only starred restaurant in Münster at the time – closed in March 2018. However, “Gabriel’s” has also established itself as a popular restaurant and is highly praised by both guests and critics.

Dipl.-Kfm. Peter Cremer quickly realized that not only the hotel needed modernization, but also the surrounding area. He has therefore been involved with the Real Estate and Location Association Bahnhofsviertel Münster e.V. (ISG) for years. For eight years as CEO, and now as a member of the board, Peter Cremer, together with the board and members, ensured that the Bahnhofsviertel district became more appealing and economically and culturally attractive.

At the beginning of 2013, the Cremers decided to gradually withdraw from operational business at the end of the year and hand over management of the hotel to younger hands. Anja and Kay Fenneberg were selected for this position and took over management on January 1, 2014.

The Anja and Kay Fenneberg family, operators since January 2014, leaseholders of the Kaiserhof since 2015

Anja and Kay Fenneberg came to Münster from Hamburg in September 2003 to manage the restaurant operations at the Zwei-Löwen-Klub. They were leaseholders of the club for ten years and made a name for themselves in Münster’s restaurant scene and among many regular customers. Kay Fenneberg has remained loyal to the restaurant industry since completing his training. After completing a culinary apprenticeship at the Parkhotel Bremen and studying hotel and catering management at a hotel management school in Hamburg, the business economist held management positions in major catering and event companies in Bremen and Hamburg, most recently at Karlheinz Hauser am Süllberg. After studying pedagogy in the field of art and adult education, Anja Fenneberg worked in publishing and banking, specializing in marketing, event management, and communications.

Four-Year Modernization Phase

The family’s motto is “Preserve tradition – offer new inspiration.” Like the Cremer family, the Fenneberg family also personally cares for their guests, is there for them, and ensures that they feel at home. The proven team at the Kaiserhof has been retained, and the guest, with their wishes and needs, continues to be their top priority. Parts of the hotel are being carefully modernized little by little. For example, in 2016, the rear facade and rear entrance were completely redesigned. Furthermore, the reception and fireplace room were upgraded, and the lobby was redesigned. At the beginning of 2017, the “Barachiel’s” bar took on a new look. In January 2018, 21 rooms were completely redesigned, followed by 23 more in January 2019. The “Gabriel’s” restaurant also received a touch-up in February 2019 with stylish armchairs, and another floor of the hotel was renovated in spring 2019. The first few days of January 2020 marked the first time in decades that the hotel had been completely closed so that the floors from the entrance area up to the fifth floor could be replaced. The major modernization phase will be completed in the course of 2020 with the renovation of the versatile event rooms. Thus, the hotel will shine in new splendor for its 125th anniversary in 2020, without having lost its old charm.

After the difficult phase of the coronavirus pandemic, during which the Kaiserhof was forced to close for the first time since World War II, every effort was made to continue serving guests in the traditional way. This was made possible thanks to the loyal and dedicated work of the department heads and their teams. Further investments were also made in the hotel, and in 2023, every room and every event space will be completely renovated, stylishly and attractively designed, and equipped with the latest technology.

We look forward to the Kaiserhof’s 130th anniversary in 2025 with happy guests!

Promoting Young Talent and Dedicated Employees

The Fenneberg family is also committed to supporting young talent. Kay Fenneberg has been serving on the Chamber of Industry and Commerce’s examination committee for the hospitality industry for years. In 2017, Anja Fenneberg was appointed Training Ambassador by DEHOGA NRW. In 2018, the company received the “Training with Quality” award. The Bahnhofsviertel district is also close to the Fenneberg family’s heart. Kay Fenneberg has been a member of the board of the Bahnhofsviertel Münster Real Estate and Location Association (ISG) since 2016.

From the very beginning, the Kaiserhof was designed and developed jointly by management and staff for the benefit of guests. More than 50 highly trained employees from the management, kitchen, reservations, reception, service, technology, events, and sales departments look after their well-being 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

The Kaiserhof deeply mourns the loss of Anne Cremer

A special person had to leave us far too soon. On the evening of the first Sunday of Advent 2021, our dear owner passed away at the age of just 68. A short, serious illness robbed her of all her strength. We bow to her with respect and admiration. We valued and loved her deeply. She shaped the Kaiserhof through her personal work and her special taste – she leaves traces and memories in every room. During her active time from 1999 to 2014, she did much for the hotel and was always thoughtful and caring for everyone’s needs. Even after handing over and leasing the hotel to us, we continued to work closely and as equals, developing the Kaiserhof together.

Our thoughts are with her husband Peter, her children Daniela and Benjamin, her grandchildren, and all family and friends. We wish her much strength to bear this painful loss.

The memories will make us both happy and sad, and we’ll never forget Anne Cremer.
